2004 - Virelec initiates ISO 9001:2000 registration process
In a continual effort to
deliver quality and customer satisfaction, Virelec has started
the process of registering its Quality Management System
(QMS) to the ISO 9001:2000 standard. Human Quality Educational
Products of Ottawa has been selected to provide consulting
services and Mississauga based QMI will be the registrar.
Virelec’s existing Quality Assurance programme was based
on the previous 1994 version of the standard. “The programme
has been through second party audits by a number of Virelec’s
customers including Hitachi Ltd of Japan. The next logical
step would be to do a third party audit by an accredited
registrar,” says Paul Marot, President of Virelec. However,
since the 1994 version is no longer being used by accreditation
agencies, Virelec will first be updating its QMS to the
2000 version of ISO 9001 before having it registered.
Paul Marot adds “Virelec’s customers have come to expect
quality from us and our commitment to the quality management
system will help us keep this reputation.”
A project team is being created to lead Virelec through
the process. The goal will be to achieve certification by
the end of 2004. |
