 Virelec
has supplied, from our premises in Mississauga, over 350 protection
and control panels to the power industry, setting the industry
standard in quality and competitiveness. We can undertake both
the design and manufacturing process, or manufacture the panels
in accordance with our client's design.
Construction
Virelec offers a variety of cabinet designs from metalwork specialists
and cabinet manufacturers. We can supply open racks, single or
multiple freestanding enclosures and duplex walk-through panel
assemblies. Our experience with a variety of panel designs ensures
we will be able to meet our clients preferred arrangement.
The impact that the panel has on the effectiveness of a protection
and control system is often under-estimated. Consideration must
be given to the type of arrangement needed on site; e.g. will
there be front or rear access to the panel? Is a swing frame required?
Is a glass-front panel needed for aesthetic or dust-control reasons?
What seismic category is required? In retrofitting or refurbishment
projects, the new panels often have to match with existing panels,
or need to be supplied as face-plates to replace old relays and
control equipment.

 Even
the selection of the "minor equipment" - terminal
blocks, switches and the type of wire - will affect the quality
of the design and impact the installation and commissioning
of the panel. We can use either customer-specified wire and
ancillary devices, or use our standard equipment.
Testing
Virelec recognises the costly impact of a poorly designed
or manufactured system on the site installation and commissioning
costs. Accordingly, we perform a full functional test of the
panels as well as wiring and insulation testing before final
inspection. We encourage our customers to attend the factory
testing process.
